Frequently Asked Questions
At Williams Paint And Body Shop - we have been assisting drivers for many years. In that time one of the main lessons we have learned is that car accidents can happen to anybody at any time or place. Check out a few common questions after customers have been involved in an accident and what to do before you get to the shop!
Q
What should I do if I’m Involved in an accident?
Initially after an accident takes place, the first thing you need to do is stop your vehicle, check that all passengers are safe and injury free, and then call the police.
If there are no injuries and your vehicle is drivable, then move it to the side of the road, if this is not possible turn on your hazard lights and either wait for the police to arrive (more serious accident) or start exchanging insurance and contact details with the other vehicle involved (less serious accident).
Q
What do I need to do if I am injured following an accident?
If you feel that you or one of your passengers may be injured following a collision, then you need to call 911 straight away for an ambulance or other emergency services.
From there, you need to see the relevant medical care practitioner for an assessment of your injury. Then, file an injury accident report with the police and contact your insurance company with a Notice of Loss and Proof of Claim Form. You will subsequently be made aware of the benefits that you may be entitled to.
Q
Do I need to exchange insurance details with the other driver?
It is crucial that you exchange contact and insurance details with all parties involved. It is also wise to take pictures and, if possible, jot down any details pertaining to the accident. If the other party involved refuses to exchange details, then be sure to obtain their license plate number as well as a detailed vehicle and driver description.
Q
What details will my insurance company need?
You need to contact your insurance provider and inform them of relevant details including: how the collision took place; if there are any injured parties and the severity of these injuries; and any damage to vehicles or adjoining property.

Q
What is a repair cost estimate?
It is important that in advance of any repair work being undertaken, both you and your insurer know how much it will cost. That is why at Williams Paint And Body Shop we are proud of our tradition of working with certified insurance companies to give you, the driver, the most cost efficient means of repairing your vehicle. Our repair cost estimate includes: what repairs are needed, the parts that will need to be repaired or possibly replaced and whether new or second hand parts are being used.
Q
My insurance company required that I upload photos of my car for an estimate, do I have to accept the payment?
Many insurance companies are requesting their insured to submit photos online for an estimate to be completed virtually. This is normal and common place for an insurance adjuster to assess the damage quickly. Damage can range in complexity that sometimes cannot be seen easily via photos. Not to worry, it's generally a starting place and authorization to get the repairs scheduled with the collision center you choose!
Q
Do I have to pay for damages missed on the insurance company's estimate?
The insurance company will only be able to provide an estimate for damages that are fully verifiable via photos. That's where we come in! If there are additional damages or modifications needed to the initial repair estimate, we coordinate with your insurance company and submit the necessary documentation to ensure your vehicle is restored to pre-loss condition. We are here for you!
Q
Can my deductible be waived or "worked in" to an estimate?
When your insurance company approves repairs, any deductible is taken from the overall payment on the claim. The deductible is a portion of the claim you agree to with your insurance company. It generally cannot be waived, and payment is due to the repair facility to pay for repairs in full. "Working in" a deductible and not collecting the payment is a form of insurance fraud and punishable in most areas. We do not participate in practices that would jeopardize our integrity or place anyone in any legal trouble. If you have questions regarding your deductible amounts, please reach out to your insurance agent BEFORE an accident!
